I learned the body before I learned the massage
I went to massage school because I believed hands-on work belonged in rehabilitation — not as a luxury, but as part of how people actually get better. Then I went back to college for sports medicine, because I wanted to know why it worked. Years as an athletic trainer with college football teams taught me the rest: evaluate quickly, be specific, be honest about what it will take. Forty years later, that's still how I work. Most of the time the pain isn't where the problem is. Pain can be related to past injury.
